About the Instructor:

Sandra Cerchio is a local artist of Scotch Plains, New Jersey began as a a self-taught artist, creating portraits in pencil and pastel. Her background profession in architectural/engineering drafting has given her work a technical precision without sacrificing originality. She began studying oils at an adult’s night class at a private studio with Margaret Calvito in Jersey City. She continued her studies at Saint Peter’s University, NJ in the studio of Fine Arts Department.

She works in graphite, oil, pastel, color pencil and water color. For the last twenty years, she has provided lessons to both upper grade and adult students at her private studio. She is a member of The Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, and The Contemporary Art Group at the Watchung Art Center, where she has received awards for her work. She was the president of the Scotch Plains Art Association and worked for the Summer Creative Workshop for Scotch Plains.
