Property Survey
In many cases your property survey is required not only when adding on to your home with an addition or deck but also when adding a second structure on the property or installing a pool/spa/hot tub. Property surveys can be found with your mortgage and closing papers which you received at your home’s closing.
Street Opening Permits
Street opening permits are required whenever work is performed where you are going into the street or behind the curb either by adding or repairing a water line or when cutting curbing. The fee for a street opening is $40.00 and approval is required by the Engineering Department. If the road has been repaved within five years or newer than an infrared patching is required. Visit the Forms section for the Permit application.
Solar Panels
If you are considering the installation of solar panels the following are the minimum requirements needed in order for you to get a Construction permit from the Building Department:
- Three (3) sets of signed and sealed plans.
- An Engineers letter (signed and sealed) stating that the existing structure has the capability and capacity for the additional load of the solar panels on the roof. In some cases, the Engineer has notes regarding additional interior work that needs to be done to existing roofs in order to support the extra load of the solar panels.
- A UCC Construction Permit Application Jacket (UCC F100) with the following completed forms:
- Building Subcode form (UCC F110) be sure to include the cost of the work under the Technical section
- Electrical SubCode form (UCC F120) outlining all of the proposed devices to be installed as part of the addition of solar panels.
- Fire Protection SubCode form (UCC F140)
Please assure all of the applications include the amounts, property information, and the solar company, as well as review that the pricing amounts match up with the costs included in the technical section.
Vacant Property Registration (VPR)
The owner of any vacant property as defined by Ordinance 2018-23 shall, within 14 calendar days after the building becomes vacant property or within 14 calendar days after assuming ownership of the vacant property, whichever is later; or within 14 calendar days of notice by the municipality, file a registration statement for such vacant property with the Construction Code Official.
