Historical Documentation & Preservation Committee
Mission Statement:
The Historical Documentation & Preservation committee is dedicated to sharing and preserving the great history of the township.
Throughout the town, you can experience this committee's hard work, demonstrated on informational signage in historical spots such as the Betsy Frazee house, Shady Rest Country Club, Osborn Cannonball House, and more for a total of 9 signs. They provide fascinating information about the township's history, including events such as the Battle of the Short Hills, a battle where over 6,000 colonial troops passed through Scotch Plains, and the history of Shady Rest Country club, the first African-American Country club in the nation. For more information on the history of Scotch Plains, visit https://scotchplainsnj.gov/index.php/government/history and https://www.frazeehouse.org/.
