Judgement of Compliance and Repose (JOR)
On November 30, 2020, Scotch Plains Township received its Final Declaratory Judgment of Compliance and Repose (JOR) by the Hon. Judge Karen M. Cassidy, A.J.S.C., confirming compliance with our affordable housing settlement.
The Township is now protected against Builder’s Remedy lawsuits through June 30, 2025 meaning developers cannot sue the Township to build affordable housing projects until that date.
The Township still does have continuing obligations under the settlement agreement, including complying with all affordable housing ordinances and reporting requirements.
