Veteran Events
The Union County Board of County Commissioners cordially invites all military veterans, active duty personnel and veteran’s service providers to attend a free Networking Mixer on Wednesday, October 16th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at The Tavern, located inside the Galloping Hill Golf Course, 3 Golf Drive in Kenilworth.
“We are excited to host our Networking Mixer for all military personnel living in Union County,” said Union County Commissioner Chairwoman Kimberly Palmieri-Mouded. “One of the several ways we honor the sacrifices they have made is by creating programs and opportunities for them to foster connections, pursue education goals, find employment, and, most importantly, feel valued and supported by the community they so bravely served.”
The Networking Mixer offers a valuable opportunity for veterans and military personnel, to connect to resources and establish relationships within the community. The event will feature complimentary food and a cash bar.
Attendance at the mixer is free, but pre-registration is required. To register, please visit ucnj.org/veterans.
“I want to thank the Office of Veteran Services for their dedication in supporting the courageous men and women who have selflessly served this country. Their commitment to the well-being of our veterans and military personnel makes these events not only possible, but successful,” said Union County Commissioner Alexander Mirabella, Liaison to the Veteran Affairs Committee. “I invite all Union County veterans and military personnel to join us on October 16th. It will be a great opportunity to explore new possibilities and connect with fellow comrades in a relaxed and beautiful setting.”

NEW JERSEY NATIONAL GUARD TROOPS
SERVING IN IRAQ & SYRIA
NEED OUR SUPPORT
8/14/24 - Eight US troops injured in attack on base in Syria
Eight American service members were treated for injuries after an air attack drone struck a facility at the Rumalyn Landing Zone American base in Syria on Friday, according to the Pentagon. Since then, eight U.S. troops have been evacuated for medical tests and treated for traumatic brain injury and smoke inhalation. Three out of those eight have since returned to their posts, and the rest remain under observation.
Such positions have repeatedly come under attack by Iran-backed militias since the Palestinian militant group Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack on Israel, and Israel’s subsequent military operations in the Gaza Strip.
THE INJURED SOLDIERS ARE MEMBERS OF THE NJ NATIONAL GUARD

The Union County Board of County Commissioners, in collaboration with the Office of Veterans, the American Job Center, and the Union County Workforce Development Board, is hosting a special job fair dedicated to helping veterans find new career opportunities. While the event will primarily focus on veterans, all Union County residents are welcome to attend. The Veterans Job Fair will take place on Wednesday, August 21st at 5:00 P.M. at the Warinanco Sports Center, located at 1 Park Drive in Roselle.
“The Commissioner Board and I are pleased to share the news of our upcoming veterans job fair, offering all attendees a valuable opportunity to start new careers or transition back into the workforce,” said Union County Commissioner Chairwoman, Kimberly Palmieri-Mouded. “We are deeply committed to supporting our local heroes and their families; this event is one way we can help.”
The Veterans Job Fair aims to connect veterans, military service members, and all interested Union County residents, with a wide range of employers looking to leverage their skills and experience to enhance their organizations.
“Our veterans are accustomed to handling responsibility, have a strong work ethic, and understand the importance of serving the community with integrity. These qualities are exactly what our workforce needs and what employers are seeking out in potential candidates,” said Commissioner Alexander Mirabella, Liaison to the Veterans’ Affairs Committee. “We encourage all resident veterans, military personnel, and their family members seeking career opportunities to join us on August 21st and explore the available career options.”
Organizations in attendance will include the U.S. Marshals, NJ Transit, Assisting Hands, Springpoint Senior Living, Seafarers, Propel America, NJ Veterans Network, VFW, Council for Airport Opportunity, and the Port Authority. Our American Job Center provides exceptional support and resources to help someone find a fulfilling career. I hope to see our veteran population there, as we work together to build a stronger, more inclusive workforce in Union County.”
