Message from Councilman Matt Adams

This year, I am pleased to be the Council liaison to both the Recreation and Environmental Commissions. I hope to make refurbishing and enhancing the communal outdoor places in town a priority, all while examining opportunities to expand our existing portfolio of parks and recreation spaces with fresh ideas for people of all ages to enjoy, and with a keen eye toward environmental stewardship.

We began this process last year with the long overdue replacement of the popular Southside Soccer Field just in time for the Fall youth soccer season. The natural synergy between our town’s recreation and environmental initiatives is obvious, and I am looking forward to using my role with both commissions to continue to achieve positive results for you.

This year, I will also serve as the Council liaison to our Police Department.  Our men and women in blue deserve the very best resources to carry out their public safety mission. Coming from a law enforcement family, I take that responsibility very seriously.

We are planning for the ultimate relocation to a new police headquarters as part of the broader plan that is now underway for the first time in 40 years to revitalize our downtown central business district. Our first responders should no longer be asked to do a 21st Century job from 20th Century facilities.

Do not hesitate to reach out to me by email with any ideas or comments that you might have.  Together is the only way we can move our community forward.
