Lights Brighten Night Sky at Alan Augustine Village Green

As more and more people head to Scotch Plains’ downtown this summer, the Township Council recognized an opportunity to better use the village green, adjacent to town hall.

This week, workers strung 600 feet of lighting across the park, using metal poles. The 300 new, market-style lights create a festive atmosphere and encourage people to meander in, where they can enjoy the fountain, the seating areas, the stage and the gazebo on warm summer nights.

“As we have a number of programs planned this summer in the village green, we wanted to make it as comfortable and inviting as possible,” said Mayor Josh Losardo. “The village green is now an ideal destination and we hope everyone takes some time to visit this summer.”
