Scotch Plains Feedback Encouraged for Fanwood Train Station Survey
Input from Scotch Plains residents is needed, as Fanwood and the American Planning Association are conducting an online survey for ideas to improve the area surrounding the Fanwood Train Station.
The study seeks ways in which Fanwood’s downtown can become more vibrant, as well as recommendations for mobility options, pedestrian safety, and other improvements.
The survey focuses on improved parking, walking, and biking connections to downtown businesses, the library, and the Cultural Arts Center as well as highlights the challenges of COVID-19 and South Avenue / Route 28, a state highway designed for higher vehicle speeds and traffic volumes.
“The goal is that over time, investments in sidewalks, bikeways, parking, paths, tree canopies, greening and other amenities will provide viable non-motorized options for getting around that everyone can appreciate and enjoy,” the survey states.
