Fire Inspector (Part-Time)
Township of Scotch Plains is seeking applicants in possession of a valid HHS Fire Protection Inspector’s License and Fire Sub Code License issued by NJ DCA. (Department of Community Affairs) Multiple licenses preferred. Fire Prevention Inspector License under UFC is also preferred.
Inspects new and existing buildings and structures to ensure compliance with the State Uniform Construction Code and enforces the same to ensure public safety, health, and welfare; does related work as required. Experience in Residential and Commercial Construction, rehabilitation of existing structures and new residential construction, is preferred. Special Data Logic programs are used throughout the department.
Ability to deal with Architects, Engineers other design professionals, contractors, and homeowners in a professional, courteous manner. Excellent communication skills are imperative Fire Subcode Official/Fire Inspector works directly under the Construction Code Official of the Township. Valid driver’s license required. 12 to 15hours/week.
