Local residents volunteered time throughout the day on Monday, Jan. 17 in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The festivities began with a virtual opening ceremony featuring the 2022 MLK Day of Service Award Recipient, Rabbi Joel Abraham of Temple Sholom.
At least a dozen community organizations and local businesses participated in collection programs of non-perishable foods and toiletries to benefit those in need.
For example, volunteers prepared lunches at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, delivered to veterans and senior citizens.
This year marked the 13th-annual SP-F MLK Day of Service.
