Scotch Plains to Receive the Governor’s “We Value Our Veterans” Award
After earning 145 points of various criteria to honor local veterans, Scotch Plains representatives will be proudly accepting the “We Value Our Veterans” Award, presented at the Vietnam War Memorial in Holmdel on Thursday.
The state award is another opportunity for Scotch Plains to value and honor the sacrifices, patriotism, and bravery displayed by our men and women who have worn the military uniform.
“This award is another honor for Scotch Plains residents who have answered the call to arms in defense of American Values,” said Mayor Josh Losardo. “We continually look for ways in which to support our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen. We want to re-enforce our message to Scotch Plains veterans, past, present, and future: thank you for your service and sacrifice.
In order to receive this award, Scotch Plains launched a number of initiatives, such as honoring veterans at public meetings and events, holding annual Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies, promoting veteran resources on the municipal website and dedicating memorials to veterans.
