Scotch Plains Moves to Weekly Recycling Pick-Up Throughout Town
SCOTCH PLAINS – June 8, 2021 – Following extensive conversations with the township’s new recycling company about efficiency and reliability, Scotch Plains is moving forward with a revised recycling pick-up plan on a weekly basis, beginning Monday, June 14.
The recycling company, RTS, which began pick-ups every two weeks beginning in March, will better be able to handle the demand through weekly pick-ups, explained Township Manager Al Mirabella.
The extra pick-ups will be of no additional cost to the Township. The Southside will have its recycling picked up every Monday; the Northside every Tuesday.
“We worked collaboratively with the recycling company to devise a plan that best fits the needs of Scotch Plains residents,” Mirabella said. “We are fully confident that a weekly pick-up is a better course of action, improving reliability and regularity. We will continue to closely assess the process and make any future adjustments, if needed.”
