Ribbon-Cutting at Sanctuary Cannabis in Scotch Plains
Company is an industry leader in medicinal marijuana.
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Scotch Plains Mayor Josh Losardo, Councilwoman Elizabeth Stamler, Deputy Township Manager Margaret Heisey, Director of Redevelopment Tom Strowe cut the ribbon to officially welcome the medical marijuana facility located 2581 Route 22 West in Scotch Plains on Friday, Jan. 5, 2024. The facility first opened to the public a few weeks ago, on Dec. 21, 2023.
This is Sanctuary's first location in New Jersey, one of 30 total locations in the U.S., including three in Massachusetts, two in New Hampshire, and 20 locations in Florida.
Sanctuary provides medical marijuana to New Jersey patients who have received their medical card from the Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC). Products sold at the dispensary are similar to those in the recreational market but also include higher-dosage products, including edibles, pre-rolls, vaporizers, and more. Medicinal marijuana can be used to treat symptoms associated with anxiety and can provide pain relief from chemotherapy, and hospice care, among other health issues.
Sanctuary currently serves medical patients with prescriptions and has also applied for a license to serve recreational users.
Sanctuary Medicinals has reached out to local doctors and holistic healers to recommend their cannabis products to their patients and have also partnered with certifying-company Leafwell to help customers get certified faster for medical marijuana use.
Upon entering the facility, customers will be greeted by Sanctuary's cannabis professionals who can provide consultation on what products will work best for different conditions. These consultants go through extensive training to learn how to know the product, ask the right questions, and guide customers to the best solution for their specific individual needs.
High-tech branded kiosks are available for those who might already know what products they need and want a quicker service experience. For instance, Cannabidiol (CBD) oil is derived from cannabis and has natural anti-inflammatory, mental health, and heart health properties. Sanctuary offers 1:1 products (a balance of THC and CBD ratio products that assist with pain management and anxiety), and Rick Simpson Oil (RSO), an oil derived from cannabis that has high levels of THC, the chemical that produces the "high."
