My Central Jersey mentions Stage House as being if not the oldest, but amongst the top 10 of the oldest continually operating restaurant Inns in New Jersey.
During both the Revolutionary War and Civil War, the Stage House Tavern was a meeting place for troops. It’s rumored that Gen. George Washington enjoyed a pint or two there.
