
FEMA Disaster Assistance Team to Offer On-Site Assistance in Scotch Plains
The Township of Scotch Plains has announced that FEMA will have a Disaster Survivor Assistance (DSA) Team located in the Parking Lot of the Scotch Plains Municipal Building, 430 Park Ave. from Monday, October 11 through Saturday, October 16 from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each day. If the weather is inclement, the team will be in the Municipal Building on the second floor, Room 202.
The Disaster Survivor Assistance Team (DSA) will be able to assist you with the following:
· Assisting residents and businesses to register for FEMA assistance.
· Checking the Status of an application already in the system and can make minor changes to applications.
· Information provided by the team are tailored to the individual survivor’s needs and may include information on making temporary repairs to a disaster-damaged house, pay for another short-term place to live while permanent repairs are being made and/or help with serious , disaster-related needs not covered by other programs.
Additionally, a team of FEMA members wearing FEMA shirts, jackets or vests wearing FEMA identification cards will be walking through neighborhoods affected by flooding to leave information at the houses and if anyone has a question they can answer you.
