Scotch Plains Walks to Wipe Out Breast Cancer

More than 200 local residents laced up their comfiest sneakers on Saturday morning to participate in the Rose Checchio Walk to Wipe Out Breast Cancer hosted by Play for P.I.N.K.

It was the fifth consecutive year the Township held a benefit walk for breast cancer research. Three years ago, the walk was named in honor of the late councilwoman,  who passed away after a long battle with breast cancer.

Play for P.I.N.K. supports volunteers organizing sporting and lifestyle events to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, raising money for detection, treatment and prevention. To date, Play for P.I.N.K. has raised more than $65 million to fund promising breast cancer research breakthroughs.
