Position Title: Mechanic Diesel
Job Title/Department: Permanent, Full Time/Department of Public Property
JOB DEFINITION
Under direction, performs varied tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of diesel engines in motor vehicles and/or automotive construction equipment, does other related duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training: Successful completion of one (1) year of training in diesel engine repair at an accredited community college or vocational school.
EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of diesel engines.
Note: Applicants who do not possess the required year of formal training may substitute one (1) additional year of experience as outlined on CSC job specification.
Note: Possession of a certificate as a diesel mechanic issued by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence may be substituted for one (1) year of formal training.
License: Appointees will be required to possess a valid New Jersey driver's license. Appointees may be required to possess a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) and applicable endorsements for the class and type of vehicle being operated.
