Township of Scotch Plains Employment Opportunity: Tax and Sewer Collector (Part Time)
The ideal candidate for the collector position has experience with reporting, billing, and enforcement. Responsibilities include: submitting state reports, conduct a tax sale, manage liens, and file monthly reports with the CFO.
The ideal candidate must be able to work independently, take initiative and possess strong organizational skills. This position is responsible for the oversight of the bookkeeping, calculation, and accounting functions to comply with all state law and municipal directives in the collection of personal and property taxes including the proper calculation, preparation, and oversees an office & duties of one full time tax clerk and one part time tax clerk.
Also responsible for the receipt and detailed accounting of all monies and/or checks received, and assisting in the administration of procedures for the enforcement of timely payment of all due taxes. Applicants must possess a Certified Municipal Tax Collector Certificate issued by the State of New Jersey. Familiarity with First Byte software a plus, but not required.
